QUO VADIS

The Quo Vadis? series grew out of my long-standing reflection on the symbolism of staircases—a universal motif representing movement, choice and transformation. Here, stairs are not merely architectural elements, but metaphors for life’s journey, its ascents and descents, moments of approach and withdrawal.

Staircases connect different spaces and levels, while at the same time raising questions of direction and purpose. In this series, they become symbols of an inner journey, moments of decision and uncertainty, inviting the viewer to reflect on their own movement through space and time.

Through reduced geometric forms, light and shadow, the works explore the relationship between architecture and human experience. Fragments of staircases remain open to different interpretations, while the title Quo Vadis? poses a simple yet essential question: Where are we going?

Each composition captures a moment between decision and movement—a space where past, present and future meet, allowing viewers to discover their own path within the image.
